Confirm UCAS offer

UCAS applications

You’ve got your uni offers. So what’s next? Here are the steps you need to take to confirm your offers.

Step 1: Firm option

When you receive your offers, you’ll need to choose a first choice or firm option

Step 2: Insurance option

You’ll also need to choose an insurance option. It's a good idea to select an insurance option with lower entry requirements than your firm choice. Then you’ll have options for university even if things don’t go to plan with your exams.

Step 3: Decline other offers

Once you have chosen your firm and insurance options, you’ll decline all your other offers. If you apply in January, then you’ll need to make you choices around beginning to mid-May.

Starting uni

Any advices of making friends like uni? Honestly, just say hi to someone who makes eye contact to you. No, that's my advice. That actually works. Which year are you in? We are in our first years. How do you feel about coming to uni?

What are your emotions, your feelings? I'm a bit nervous and excited as well. Excited for new experience and the knowledge I will get after I finish my post. What are things that you feel more anxious or nervous about?

Just meeting people. How do you manage your life, journey life and the outer life? Which year are you in? I'm a fifth year, doing a second degree. Is there any advice could you give to someone that is joining uni for the first time?

Find a couple things that you really like. A society, maybe a sport. Make sure you use every kind of help that is given. From uni temp, from student learning assistant. Do a little bit of revision every day.

Don't be like me, read your books and your assignments. Going to uni holes helped me because I got to meet people from all sorts of backgrounds, all sorts of courses. You're going to get out of your comfort zone which is very exciting.

And overwhelm me at the same time because it's something that we've never done before. What do you feel more excited about coming to uni? The first thing I'm excited about, this is my first time in London.

The usuals like Big Ben, Buckingham Palace. The new restaurants, the experiences that they have here. Totally excited on getting into the new uni, meeting up new friends, the events in the uni, the studies, everything.

First of us really looks scary but now when I'm here, everyone is nice and welcoming. So I have calmed down and just going to enjoy the time now.

At 四不像论坛, we want uni study to be affordable for everyone, and for you to have the money that you need to make the most of your time here as a student. But we know the rising cost of living means that you might be facing tough times, so we are here to tell you how uni can help you.

We can help you get more money to cover the cost of uni, like travel, accommodation and childcare. That includes finance that you don't have to pay back, like our living cost fund as well as scholarships and bursaries.

You can also apply for loans and grants from the government. Getting your head around these different financial support options can be a challenge. That's why our Student Welfare Advice team are here to explain what you're eligible for and give you a hand if you make an application.

Plus, 四不像论坛Works can help you find jobs on and off campus that pay the London living wage and above. The uni covers cost for day -to -day things that you need for your studies. All this stuff is for free.

Laptop loans, e -books and e -journals, plus all the books on your reading list, specialist software, academic printing, online training with LinkedIn Learning. There's also loads of free expert support for your studies, as well as for your emotional wellness and mental health, which is good to know if you're worried about money.

We can give you advice and tips to make student life more affordable, like your energy bills, free cheap and fresh food on campus, discounts on big brands and local shops, and paying less to get around London.

Plus, there is advice on budgeting too. So if you're worried about money, take that first step to ask for support. I can't wait. The one time it came out right is... Okay, alright.
